Decorating in Hornchurch

Hornchurch is a town in the London borough of Havering.

A Site of Special Scientific Interest, Hornchurch cutting has the southern edge of an Anglican ice sheet dating back 450,000 years. This was from the most extreme Ice Age in Pleistocence Ice Ages. The site was dicovered in 1892 by geologist TV Holmes during the construction of the Romford to Upminster railway line. The 5 metre thick boulder clay was covered by sand and gravel. Excavation in 1983 has seen the discovery of many Jurassic fossils.
